June 9th marks the 7th anniversary of the seizure of the Izolyatsia Art and Culture Foundation by armed formations of the Russian Federation.
Established in Donetsk in 2010 on the premises of a former insulation materials factory, the Izolyatsia Art and Culture Foundation was converted to a prison in 2014. It now contains torture chambers and weapon storage facilities, added by the Russian occupation administration’s so-called 'Ministry of the State Security of Donetsk People’s Republic’.
The illegal prison of Izolyatsia is a clear example of the true face of Russian aggression against Ukraine. It has become a place in which the universal values of humanity and freedom no longer exist. Instead there is only repression and the horrors of state-sanctioned human rights abuses.
Ukraine calls once again on politicians of the democratic world, human rights organizations and other public organizations, as well as the international media, to work together in the struggle for
human rights which can only be achieved by increasing the pressure on Russia.
It is our shared duty to secure the release of all prisoners held in the illegal prison of Izolyatsia, - as well as prisoners from other, similar camps, and to put an end to these crimes against humanity in all Ukrainian territory that is temporarily occupied by Russia.
