The reasons why Albania should vote for Ukraine. The force to get out of the crisis, must be found in all possibilities.

At a time when the Sars Covid-19 pandemic has brought the world to its knees, governments are thinking not only of reducing the risk of what appears to be a pandemic but are looking for new opportunities. In this case, Albania should turn its attention to the agreements it has already signed in time, but also to benefit more from them. Few know that Albania has been a member for 20 years with equal rights of the "Black Sea Agreement" or more precisely of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) platform.

The elections for the general secretary of this body will take place this November and Albania has the chance to vote for its best variant. In the race are the representative of Greece, who is already running for a third term and we as a country has not seen a change in trade with the region in the last 3 years.
If we are going to vote for Russia, despite being an extremely large market and the economic opportunity seems great, at least in numbers, in opportunity, we see and must look more towards Western Europe and America.

So in the best of options, Ukraine remains the best option. In this election, Ukraine is represented by Vasyl Bodnar. He is the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, who is competing to lead the Black Sea economic platform for the next 4 years. A market like Ukraine, even in times of crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be at higher levels of import-export. Only from January this year to September Albania has exported 325 million ALL goods to Ukraine, 205 million ALL more, compared to the same period a year ago. Imports have also increased significantly. During the first 9 months of this year our country has imported 322 million ALL goods from Ukraine, 814 million ALL more than the 9 months of 2019. Since the start of cooperation, this is the year that has marked the record of trade exchanges between countries.

In the first nine months of 2020, total exports of goods reached the value of 195 billion ALL, decreasing by 13.6%, compared to a year ago and imports of goods reached the value of 429 billion ALL, decreasing by 10.9%, compared to a year ago. While the trade deficit reached the value of ALL 234 billion, decreasing by 8.6%, compared to the same period of 2019.

The groups that have mainly influenced the annual decrease in exports are products such as textiles, footwear, minerals, fuels, electricity, construction materials and metals. While in the annual change of exports has positively affected goods such as food, beverages and tobacco.
Also, the groups that have mainly influenced the annual decrease in imports have influenced products such as minerals, fuels, electricity, textiles, shoes, machinery, equipment, spare parts. While the annual change of imports has not had a positive impact on any group.

Not only for this reason but also on the competition platform Mr. Bodnar said that with him at the helm of the BSEC, customs tariffs will no longer be an obstacle to trade volumes because the initiated legal initiatives will be an asset for economic development. Agriculture and agro-industry, banks and finance, fight against organized crime, culture, customs, education, emergency aid, energy, environmental protection, exchange of statistical data and economic information, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, information and communication technologies, Institutional renewal and good governance, science and technology, SMEs, tourism, trade and economic development, and transportation are among the key areas of cooperation within the Organization. The Black Sea Economic Platform came into being as a unique and promising model of multilateral political and economic initiative with the signing of the Istanbul Summit Declaration and the Bosphorus Declaration by the Heads of State and Government of the countries in the region on 25 June 1992.

In order to promote interaction and harmony among its members, as well as to ensure peace, stability and prosperity, by encouraging good friendly and neighbourly relations in the Black Sea region, today BSEC serves as a forum for cooperation in a range of wide areas for 12 member states: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine.
